Managing Rhythm Disorder: From Arrhythmia Management to Recognizing High Risk Syncope

Discover how experts deal with arrhythmia and high risk syncope while uncovering clinical research insight at ASM InaHRS

How-To Session 1: Non-Pharmacological Therapy for Brady- and Tachy-Arrhythmias

This topic was presented by three speakers, with Andi Renata Bastario, MD as moderator. First topic on cardioversion in AF, was delivered by Arsha Pramudya, MD, who provided a comprehensive discussion of the approach and dosage involved in performing cardioversion. This session was followed by Sumarni, MD, PhD, who discussed the use of the Valsalva maneuver in managing arrhythmias. The session concluded with a presentation from Prof. Muzakkir, MD., PhD, who emphasized the role of Transcutaneous Pacing (TCP) and Temporary Pacemakers (TPM) as options for cases of significant bradycardia.

How to Session 2: Not Just a Faint: Identifying High-Risk Syncope

“How to Session 2” at the 13th ASM InaHRS, aimed for general practitioners, was moderated by Andrianus Oktovianto, MD. Topics included the clinical approach to syncope. Tiya Setiadi, MD, explained several red flags in syncope cases, so referrals can be made efficiently. The presentation continued with Sebastian Andy Manurung, MD, who discussed the differences  between syncope and seizures, as well as the clinical approach to determining whether a neurological cause is suspected. Finally, the session concluded with a presentation titled “Recognizing Reflex Syncope” by Rizky Aulia Fanani, MD.

Oral Presentation 1: Clinical Original Article

The final activity held before the Friday prayer break was the first oral presentation on cardiovascular-related Clinical Original Articles. During this session, the presenter, Vidyawati, Lejla AS, Devina GN, Arliawan AA, Effendi, and Alfian RS–explained the results of their research and participated in a question-and-answer session with a board of panelists consisting of Dicky Armein Hanafy, MD, PhD; Pipin Ardhianto, MD; and Mohammad Iqbal, MD, PhD. The event was brief, lasting about an hour but packed with valuable content. Participants in the 13th ASM InaHRS seemed enthusiastic about attending the event, as can be seen from how packed the “Singapore room” is, where the presentation took place.
