EP Booth Camp: Building Foundations in Electrophysiology

13th ASM InaHRS participants gain foundational EP knowledge through hands-on device and mapping training.

The EP Booth Camp offered participants a comprehensive foundation in electrophysiology, combining lecture sessions with hands-on practice. The morning began with Kiky Rizky, MD, who presented on the ABCs of antiarrhythmic drug therapy, walking attendees through the fundamentals of drug classification and their clinical application in managing arrhythmias.

Following this, Evan Jim Gunawan, MD discussed the fundamentals of pacemaker follow-up, covering the essential components of device monitoring and evaluation. This was complemented by a hands-on session on pacemaker reprogramming, giving participants direct experience in adjusting device settings, followed by an open discussion period before attendees broke for coffee.

After the break, Muhammad Rafdi Amadis, MD presented on basic EGM, unravelling the mechanisms behind cardiac arrhythmias and helping participants build a clearer understanding of electrogram interpretation. Hauda El Rasyid, MD then took the floor to discuss non-invasive EP procedures, including Holter monitoring, tilt table testing, and provocation testing, outlining their diagnostic value in evaluating arrhythmia patients.

Closing out the lecture portion, Andrianus Oktovianto, MD presented on invasive EP procedures, covering the fundamentals of 2D and 3D mapping techniques used in electrophysiology studies. The session then transitioned into a wet lab segment on basic anatomy for device implantation and ablation, giving participants practical, applied experience to reinforce the concepts covered throughout the morning.

Altogether, the EP Booth Camp provided a well-rounded blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on training, reinforcing key concepts in antiarrhythmic therapy, device follow-up, and both non-invasive and invasive EP procedures. The combination of expert-led presentations and practical exercises equipped participants with a stronger foundation for recognizing and managing cardiac arrhythmias in clinical practice.
