Emerging Approaches in Arrhythmia Diagnosis, Management, and Research

A concise overview of challenging EP cases, systematic ECG interpretation, and emerging research in arrhythmia care

Challenging EP Cases (EP Fellows)

Challenging EP Cases was moderated by Anggia Chairuddin Lubis, MD and Ahmad Suhaimi, MD, with Lim Tien Siang Eric, MD as the expert panelist. It featured four case presentations by EP Fellows from Harapan Kita Jakarta, Hasan Sadikin Bandung, Sardjito Yogyakarta, and Wahidin Sudirohusodo Makassar, followed by discussion. The Harapan Kita Jakarta case opened the session, followed by the Hasan Sadikin Bandung case, highlighting the importance of re-inducing, remapping, and re-testing after each success. The Sardjito Yogyakarta case, “The Unstoppable Circuit,” discussed refractory incessant VT in arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, while Makassar presented “An Unexpected Complication of a Routine RVOT PVC Ablation.”

How to Session 4: How to Systematically Read an Arrhythmia ECG in 5 Minutes (for General Practitioners)

Designed to provide a practical approach to ECG interpretation, this session was moderated by Arsha Pramudya, MD and featured three lectures focused on rapid recognition of arrhythmias. Kiky Rizky, MD opened the session with “Pattern Recognition in Arrhythmia ECG: Think Like an EP,” discussing the three basic mechanisms of arrhythmia: automaticity, reentry, and triggered activity, as well as the importance of examining ECG strips when arrhythmias begin and terminate. Hermawan, MD followed with “30 Seconds ECG: Identifying Life-Threatening Arrhythmias,” highlighting rapid identification of life-threatening arrhythmias and the role of AI-ECG. The session concluded with Fandi Ahmad, MD, presenting “A 3-Step Approach to Rapid Arrhythmia Diagnosis on ECG.”

Oral Presentation 3: Basic Science

Oral presentation 3 featured Hauda El Rasyid, MD, Ahmad Suhaimi, MD, and Ardian Rizal, MD as panelists and included a total of seven oral presentations. The presentations covered topics including the anti-arrhythmic effects of SGLT2 inhibitors, AI-assisted pediatric ECG interpretation, prevention of recurrent atrial fibrillation following catheter ablation, and potential anti-arrhythmic compounds from Andrographis paniculata targeting ion channels associated with Brugada syndrome. Three additional oral presentations were also delivered during the session.
